I know a lot of people are reporting on the new "Street View" from Google Maps. Some like it, some hate the privacy implications, me I am pretty impartial.

The one big issue I do have with some of the images is that photography is not allowed on NYC bridges and tunnels!

I looked quickly on some of the bigger bridges to try and grab a clear shot of one of the "No Photography" signs, but this is as best I could grab. That photo is from the Triborough Bridge and the sign on the top right is a a camera with a slash through it.

Read this post from someone who was caught photographing a bridge.

Now terrorists don't have to take pictures because they have the whole bridge thanks to Google.

Why did I wait to shop?

December 21, 2006

Like most web developers (and other techie's out there) I like to get my holiday shopping done online. I hate the lines and crowds at brick and mortar stores, so online shopping really makes me a much easier person to be around this time of year. And with Google giving away money to use their Google Checkout service how can you not take advantage?

This year, however, I have been so busy that browsing through Amazon and other sites just didn't happen. Now it is too late to shop online since I will not pay to overnight stuff. I have been trudging through the mall the last couple of nights and I really remember how much I dislike it. After a couple nights and a couple lunch breaks I am just about done!

I need to start buying online in June for next season so I am not stressed out like this again!

Google Maps with Waypoints

December 19, 2006

Finally! Google has finally added the feature of adding waypoints into its mapping product!

This is a feature that I have been wanting for a long time now! I remember back when Map24 came out and it had waypoints built it and it was impressive. Map24 has since fell off my bookmarks since it is a bit more of what I typically need, but it is still a very impressive product.

What is a waypoint? I would assume you know being that you searched for it, but a waypoint simply means a single location. With Google Maps now you can add multiple destinations, or waypoints, onto the map.

As a simple example, go to http://maps.google.com and right click on the map. Choose "Directions from here." Now right click somewhere else on the map and choose "Directions to here." You should now see two points with directions between the two. In order to create another way point you simply need to right click on the map and choose "add a destination."

Google has finally come out and said that placing images next to Google ads is against the Terms of Service!http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/12/ad-and-image-placement-policy.html

Time for me to revist a few of my sites since I have been doing this for a long time now. Google never said it was a problem, and many people were doing.
